4 Ways to Protect Your Energy
Updated: Mar 8
“I’m feeling long-term burnout. I’m someone who always prided myself on being in control and having strong, emotional resiliency. My manager checked in on me, and I know he’s trying to empathize, but he said something like, ‘Oh, so-and-so keeps calling me to make sure you’re OK.' I’m fighting so hard, but it feels like the odds are against me, and it hurts.”
Recently I read the above quote from a study on the state of burnout for women in the workplace. For many years I hustled and showed up for everyone else -- except my
self. If you relate to this, you're not alone.

It took a family tragedy to make me really stop and reevaluate my life...but it doesn't have to be that way. There are proven strategies and evidence-based techniques that can help you recover from burnout... ...and the great news? It all begins with your own energy. Energy underlies EVERYTHING. When you learn simple strategies to manage your own energy, you can refill your cup, set healthy boundaries, and recover from burnout.
4 Ways to Protect Your Energy, Feel Grounded, & Heal from Burnout 1) NOTICE:
What situations/people/places uplift you?
Which ones drain you?
This insight is CRUCIAL to managing your energy...how else can you know what to make more room for in your life and where to set better boundaries?
It all begins with awareness.
2) CLEANSE with intention:
When you wash your hands, shower, or take an Epsom salt bath (my favorite way to cleanse not just my body but my energy as well) you can imagine all of the energies that don't belong to you -- other people's opinions, projections, etc. -- washing down the drain. Bye!
3) Get out in the SUNSHINE to recharge!
Take a few moments to feel the warmth of the sun on your face, and imagine yourself being revitalized.
